Arbordale Publishing’s “Henry the Impatient Heron” wins Gold in the

2010 Mom’s Choice Awards

Mount Pleasant, S.C. (February 16, 2010) – Sylvan Dell’s award-winning author and Montana resident Donna Love is the proud recipient of yet another notable award. Love’s book, “Henry the Impatient Heron” won a gold medal for “values and life lessons” in the picture book category for children ages 0 to 9 in the 2010 Mom’s Choice Awards.

“It's an honor to receive the Mom's Choice Award,” Donna said. “Since it's usually parents or another adult close to the child that purchases the book, it means that they feel kids would like "Henry" and that's the best - knowing that children like the book!”

Love resides in Montana, where her husband is a district ranger in the Lolo National Forest. Two of their three children are now out of college and one is a senior in high school. From her years as a substitute teacher and mother of three, Love found she has a gift for explaining nature to children. Donna's first books include Animals Count In Grand Canyon National Park (2009), Loons, Diving Birds of the North (2003), and Awesome Ospreys, Fishing Birds of the World (2006). Awesome Ospreys became a Skipping Stones Press Honor Award Winner in 2006 for promoting ecological understand and cooperation around the world. Animals Count in Grand Canyon National Park just recieved the 2010 Association of Partners for Public Lands 2010 Media and Partners Award in the childrens category ( (APPL is the association that national park associations belong to.) To learn more about Donna Love, visit her website at

Published by Arbordale Publishing in spring 2009, “Henry the Impatient Heron” is a story of a young heron who is always moving, and it drove everyone crazy. He must learn to stay still so that he can catch food on his own. Love takes readers along with Henry as he learns a valuable lesson from the King of Camouflage! Hilarious and lighthearted illustrations by Christina Wald complement the important lesson in the text. It is a meaningful lesson for both herons and kids alike, which teaches the importance of just being still! Check out the book homepage at .

“I wrote “Henry” in my head early one morning on the Clearwater River at the south end of Seeley Lake from my ittle boat while watching a pair of just fledged heron chicks learning to hunt,” Love said. “Their silly antics made me wonder what would happen if a heron couldn't stand still. I hope those young herons learned to hunt as well as Henry did!”
